SCAT | SCAT Minor | Golden Memories
Swingin’ with Creative Arts Therapies (SCAT) is a collaborative expressive arts program conceptualized by GCSB Arts, Education and Wellness for individuals with special needs including physical, intellectual and emotional disabilities. Participants will be introduced to the various instruments of the band and have the opportunity to express their interpretations of swing music in 3 separate workshops (music, art and dance/movement) led by certified creative arts professionals, and in a very special performance at the end of the program.
SCAT Minor is a one-hour program introducing participants to various musical instruments and offering the opportunity to express their interpretations of swing music through specific music-therapeutic interventions: singing/vocalizing, dance/movement and use of musical instruments/props.
Golden Memories: Vitalizing Senior Communities Through Music was developed to support the health and wellness of the senior community through music. We believe that arts therapies have value to the seniors who are no longer able to get out and experience what they once did because of illness or limitations. This 60-minute program incorporates live music along with a music therapist working with the residents throughout the performance.
GCSB Arts, Education and Wellness receives state arts funding support through a grant from the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, a state agency funded by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency.
