Our full orchestra and smaller band are both parts of GCSB Arts, Education and Wellness, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated not just to celebrating and preserving the music we so love, but to supporting disabilities awareness through musical education programs to enhance the lives of children and adults with special needs. GCSB founders, Jill and Joy Procida both carry a diagnosis of limb girdle muscular dystrophy and can relate first-hand to the freedom one can feel through music.

To fulfill our mission, we use Glass City Swing Band, an 18-piece swing band, as well as our smaller group, Glass Half Full. You can read more about GCSB Arts, Education and Wellness and it’s driving force on our About Us page.

We want to let all our valued sponsors, partners, clients and supporters – current and future – know that GCSB Arts, Education and Wellness (GCSBArts) is thinking about you and your families during these tumultuous times. We are also thinking of the people that are the heart of the wonderful organizations and families you represent. We know that this is an incredibly difficult challenge for everyone.

We’re watching all the daily developments that will hopefully lead to better times ahead, not the least of which is the opportunity to make great music together for our community of special needs people as well as swing dancers and avid jazz listening audiences. Right now we are moving forward with our current scheduled programs and events. Please watch our Facebook page and website for updates on our SCAT program and “A Swingin’ Christmas Spectacular fundraiser. Also as restrictions continue and we are notified of official gig cancellations, where possible, we will work diligently with clients to re-book a future date as soon as appropriate.

We want our sponsors, partners, clients and supporters to feel safe when we restart operations and we will take all necessary precautions to avoid risking our health and yours when we offer our programs and events.

GCSBArts remains committed to providing superior programs and musical experiences via the Glass City Swing Band. We know that it may take some time to eventually get back to normal performances and our emphasis will remain on getting the special needs community, dancers and listeners back into the venues for a sustainable future.

In the meantime please stay safe and healthy, and please look through our Facebook and Website posts over the past years to reminisce. A ‘Like’ would be very cool, too 😉

We’ll continue to update GCSBArts.org and our Facebook page with the latest information on scheduling.
